Social Media Guidelines
Social posts from official Option Cutter accounts and staff personas should meet the same accuracy bar as on-site reviews—see working fairly for methodology disclosure. A viral clip that misstates specs or hides sponsorship erodes trust faster than a late article.
These guidelines apply to Twitter/X, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn, Threads, and any platform where readers might infer Option Cutter endorsement.
Official accounts
Official channels prioritize helpful clips, verified deal alerts tied to live prices, and links to full reviews—not drive-by dunking on products we have not tested.
Affiliate links in official posts need clear disclosure consistent with FTC guidance and our Affiliate Disclosure.
Personal accounts of staff and contributors
Personal accounts may discuss products, but staff should avoid implying Option Cutter has reviewed something we have not. Disclose brand ambassador deals, consulting, or steady bylines for manufacturers you also cover here.
Do not break embargoes or leak unpublished winners on personal channels—see confidential information.
Partisan and inflammatory speech
Option Cutter is not a politics site, but product categories touch public issues. Avoid partisan campaigning from official accounts. On personal accounts, do not suggest Option Cutter shares your electoral preferences unless writing in a clearly personal capacity with no site branding.
Engagement with readers
Reply helpfully when you can cite the review. Point to corrections processes for factual disputes. Do not harass readers or rival outlets.
