Advertising Acceptability Guidelines
Option Cutter is primarily funded by affiliate commerce and editorial content, not traditional display advertising. When we accept sponsorships or branded placements, they must be clearly labeled and must not masquerade as independent reviews or Top Picks—see commerce conflict rules.
Final acceptability decisions rest with leadership in consultation with editorial standards—not with individual writers.
What we generally accept
Category-relevant sponsorships with clear labels, house ads for our own guides, and retailer co-marketing when editorial picks remain independent and labeled separately from paid modules.
What we decline
Deceptive health claims, counterfeit goods, illegal products, malware, political ads unrelated to site mission, and creatives that mimic editorial templates without sponsorship markers.
Separation from editorial
Sponsored modules cannot reuse comparison winner badges or Top Picks design without a visible sponsorship marker. Editors do not trade favorable coverage for ad buys or affiliate rate bumps under integrity guidelines.
Native and shoppable formats
Shoppable video, gift guides with brand funding, and newsletter sponsorships require upfront labels and editorial sign-off that content meets standards—or clear advertorial labeling if it does not.
